Exhibition notes: Chuck Close – Red Yellow Blue

The first time I had a crush on the painting of Chuck Close, is the witness of “Phil” in Whitney Museum. It is naturally eye-catching with large painting like that, especially it focuses on face expression. What fascinates me is while getting close to the painting, those charming textures burst out from this photo-like image. We can enjoy each brush that Close transforms the people, of course, his friend Philip Glass, from the photography into his very personal interpretation with his visual language. The realism from the view with distance to the vibrant details of expressionism. It is contemporary photorealistic, but not too neat and tidy. The textures convey full humanity and emotion, demanding a direct conversation with us.

Missing the exhibition on Sunday, I will go to see it this week. Much looking forward to it!
